Liturgy & Order of Service
Liturgy is a Greek word that is most often translated "the work of the people." It often refers to the order of service or rituals in Christian worship. Evidence of our liturgical heritage may be seen in our Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. Many churches divide themselves into liturgical or non-liturgical traditions based on the simplicity or elaborateness of worship. However, all churches have liturgy, though in some traditions it may be very simple.
Concord United Methodist Church uses two basic Orders of Service, or liturgies. Either of these may be modified as needed to facilitate congregational needs on a given sunday. The first is our standard liturgy used most Sundays.
